EuroBasket 2025: Preview
Regardless of what the bookmakers say, Spain are still the team to beat. The reigning champions have won four gold medals over the past six years and have plenty of experience defending their crown.
Winning back-to-back titles at the EuroBasket tournament would place them in elite company. If they achieve the feat, Spain would become only the third team to successfully defend the EuroBasket title multiple times, following in the footsteps of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union.
Writing them off before the curtain raiser would be foolish, although they will face plenty of obstacles in their bid to etch their name into the record books.
France have plenty of talent at their disposal and will enter the tournament brimming with confidence. They could go the distance if their top players produce their best form.
Serbia are perennial contenders and winning the upcoming tournament is a huge possibility. If NBA superstar Nikola Jokic links up with the squad, their chances of success would go through the roof.
Germany should also be competitive, particularly after winning the 2023 FIBA World Championship. If they produce the same level of form, they will be tough to beat.
