Galatasaray will finish its Euroleague season behind closed doors after the incidents that took place in the road game vs Alba two weeks ago. The Turkish team will play without the suppost of its fans in the home game vs Barcelona, the last on in the Top 16.

This is the announcement of the Euroleague with which punishes Galatasaray with one game behind closed doors and a fine of 30.000 euros and Alba with a fine of 40.000 euros:
“Euroleague Basketball’s Independent Disciplinary Judge has handed out sanctions to both ALBA Berlin and Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul due to incidents that occurred prior to their Top 16 Round 11 game in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague on Thursday, March 19 at O2 WORLD in the German capital.

The independent disciplinary judge sanctioned ALBA Berlin, the host of the game, with a fine of €40,000, for a failure to adopt all necessary preventative measures to avoid disturbances. The judge has highlighted in his decision that the disciplinary record of ALBA Berlin was heretofore exemplary.

Visiting team Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul was sanctioned with a fine of €30,000 and an order for its next home game to be played behind closed doors, without spectators, for incidents generated by its fans that seriously or repeatedly disturbed the course of the game. The judge gave special importance in his decision to the recidivism of Galatasaray LIV Hospital Istanbul, which has been sanctioned for fan behavior several times this season.

Euroleague Basketball would like to reiterate to all fans, partners and television broadcasters across the globe who share our values that the security and well-being of fans is our utmost priority. We will always ensure that the enjoyment of our games is in line with the universal values of the sport. We will have zero tolerance towards violence in Euroleague arenas”.
