Greece started the tournament with an impressive 85-65 win over FYROM. Giorgos Printezis with 18 points was the first among equals, Bourousis (16 p. 10 r.) and Koufos (11 p., 11 r.) had both a double double and Kostas Sloukas came from the bench and turned the game around.

FYROM managed to stay close at the first half, trailing by 7 points (38-31) and the situation was almost the same at the end of the third quarter (59-50). However, things changed in the last quarter. Greece got even a 22 points lead with a partial score 20-7 (79-57), FYROM couldn’t keep up and now got a moral boost before the next big game vs Croatia.

Aleksandar Kostoski scored 20 points, but didn’t have any real help. On the other hand four Greek players scored in double digits (Spanoulis had 10 points), while Sloukas and Antetokounmpo added 9 points each.
