The big favorite started the Eurobasket the hard way. France needed overtime in order to beat Finland (97-87) which demonstrated an impressive fighting spirit once again.

Sasu Salin send the game in overtime (81-81), Tony Parker lost the potential winning shot and France needed the extra five minutes in order to prevail. “Les Bleus” exploded in the overtime with a 16-6 partial score but still nobody expected this turn of events, considering the fact that the Eurobasket hosts had even a 16 points lead (63-47).

Tony Parker finished the game with 23 points, Nando De Colo and Nikola Batum had 16 points each for the winners. Naturalized Jamar Wilson who plays for French club Rouen, scored 21 points for Finland and team leader Petteri Koponen added  15 points.
