The organisation of one preliminary group and the final phase of the Eurobasket will be profitable for France. The country’s Basketball Federation calculates that there will be a total income of 17 million euros.
Apart from the other benefits that France will have, and several days before the end of the tournament when the final account will take place, it is estimated that the Federation will get around 17 millions. The vast majority of them (around 13 million euros) will come from the ticket sales and the sponsοrs, while the remaining four million euros will be given by the government and the municipality of Lille, which will host the final phase and (the municipality) of Montpellier, which is currently hosting one of the groups.
The main reason for that really impressive number is the fact that the final stage will take place at Lille’s football stadium, which has a 27.000 capacity.
