In the last big test of the group stage, Greece beat Slovenia 83-72 and secured the top spot of the group C standings. It was not an easy win as Slovenia got back into the game at the last quarter, but in the end it was Spanoulis’ game

In the last big test of the group stage, Greece beat Slovenia 83-72 and secured the top spot of the group C standings. It was not an easy win as Slovenia got back into the game at the last quarter, but in the end it was Spanoulis’ game.

In total six Greek players scored in double digits with Spanoulis leading the way with 19 points and 6 assists. Jaka Blazic had 27 points, cut the lead of Greece to two points in the start of the last quarter and Zoran Dragic added 22 points. Greece build a half time lead of 15 points (46-31), but Slovenia didn’t give up.

Dragic and Blazic exploded and at the start of the fourth quarter Slovenia was trailing by just two points (62-60, 32′). And then it was Spanoulis’ time! Greece answered with a 9-1 run order was restored. After a three by Zisis the score was 80-67 and the game was over as Greece stays unbeaten after four games.
