24 years after Galis’ last game in a Eurobasket and 16 years after his first game in a Eurobasket, Dirk Nowitzki surpassed the Greek legend and became the second All-time scorer in Eurobasket behind Tony Parker.

This is the sixth Eurobasket for the best German player ever and he surpassed Nikos Galis who scored 1030 points in 33 games in 5 different tournaments.

Here is the video with the free throws that marked the huge achievement by Dirk Nowtizki. The leading All-time scorer is Tony Parker who surpassed Nikos Galis in France’s game against Poland.

All that started in the Eurobasket of France, in Dijon in 1999, when in the first game of the Group, Germany faced Greece. Nowitzki was 21 years old and already an NBA player with Dallas Mavericks. He was the leading scorer of Germany with 21 points and led his team to the win (59-58)! He finished that tournament with 15,2 points per game impressing everybody!
