For 38 minutes Russia, which doesn’t have any chance of advancing to the second round, was threatening France  with an upster. In the end, however, the favorite prevailed (74-67) and remained unbeaten.

Still, France needs to beat Israel in order to finish on top of Group A standings and the way the players of Collet finally got the win, can be considered a good sign for their resilience. The Russians, led by Vitaly Fridzon who had 20 points, tried their best to stay on the game, but in the end they didn’t have the same quality solutions that France did. Collet wanted his “second unit” to win the game, without Parker and Diaw on the floor and that happened with Joffrey Lauvergne and Charles Kahudi scoring the most crucial points of the game.

France now has a 4-0 record and tommorow they face Israel (3-1), while Russia have to play with Bosnia in a game in which both teams have already lost any qualification chance.
