The Lithuanian national team filed a protest according to the FIBA rules against the result of the game against Germany in Group B of Eurobasket 2022 for a refereeing mistake that happened in the end of the third period.

According to the protest, the referees and table officials at the end of the third quarter gave to Lithuania two free throws instated of three, after a technical foul to German national team coach Gordon Herbert and also a shooting foul in favor of Jonas Valanciunas.

“We may protest”, said in the press conference Lithuanian coach Kazys Maksvytis which proved to be the case.

It has to be noted that even if there’s a decision in favor of Lithuania, very few things may change.

In the recent past, Lithuania also was on the wrong side of a call in the FIBA World Cup against France, FIBA admitted the mistake but practically nothing changed with Lithuania missing the chance to qualify in the knock-out phase of the tournament.
