Sasha Vezenkov and Codi Miller-McIntyre won’t play in Bulgaria’s must-win game against Germany for the 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers Sunday (23/2) in Bamberg.

Per the Bulgarian Basketball Federation, Vezenkov and Miller-McIntyre didn’t receive permission from their clubs, Olympiacos Piraeus and Crvena Zvezda respectively, to participate in the match. Naturalized guard Dee Bost and guard Iliyan Pishtikov were called as replacements by Bulgaria head coach Rosen Barchovski.

Vezenkov had 40 points and 18 rebounds in Bulgaria’s 81 – 77 overtime win over Sweden that retained the team’s chances to qualify to the EuroBasket. Miller-McIntyre posted seven points (3-13 shots), nine assists and five rebounds.

The standings in Group D are 1) Germany 3-2, 2) Montenegro 3-2, Sweden 2-3, 4) Bulgaria 2-3. The top three teams advance to the EuroBasket.

Vezenkov and Miller-McIntyre will return to their teams as EuroLeague action resumes Thursday (27/2). Zvezda faces Zalgiris Kaunas at home in the Round 27 opener while Olympiacos plays vs. Virtus Bologna on the road Friday.
