The reigning World Champions finally booked their ticket for the competition

Germany only had one result in mind heading to their latest appointment of the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers: following a difficult qualifying stage in Group D, they needed to beat Bulgaria in order to come back to the competition three years after winning the bronze medal at home.

Without Sasha Vezenkov and Codi Miller-McIntyre on the losing side, the reigning World Champions dominated and then controlled for the 94-85 win, with David Kramer dropping 14 points.

After this result, everything was meaningless in the other matchup of the day in Group D, with Sweden going up against Montenegro. With Germany taking out Bulgaria, both the Scandinavian team – that ultimately won 86-83 – and the Balkan country will be able to participate in FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

Germany, Montenegro, and Sweden weren’t the only national teams able to qualify for FIBA EuroBasket 2025, as Iceland beat Turkiye 83-71 to clinch a spot in the competition after not making it in 2022.

Martin Hermannsson was crucial for his country, contributing with 23 points over 4/7 from beyond the arc to beat Ergin Ataman’s team. Tryggvi Hlinason added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, shooting perfectly from the field (6/6).

Therefore, Hungary couldn’t qualify for FIBA EuroBasket 2025, regardless of their 71-67 victory on the road to beat Italy in Reggio Calabria, dragged by Zoltan Perl’s 20 points.

Earlier on Sunday, Latvia got their sixth consecutive victory on the road to hosting the competition at home as one of four venues in the Group Phase and the only one in the Final Phase.

Luca Banchi’s team controlled from the very beginning against the already-eliminated Slovakia, getting the final 89-68 victory with center Karlis Silins scoring 19 points in just 12:00 minutes of playing time. Following such result, Slovenia finished with a winless 0-6 record.

While Latvia finished with a perfect 6-0 in Group C, Belgium and Spain qualified after tying at 3-3 as the latter got the 59-52 home victory to finish the qualifying stage. Xabi Lopez-Arostegui led with 13 points.
