With FIBA EuroBasket 2025 being divided among four countries for the Group Stage, basketball will be spread across all of Europe at the end of the summer.
Passionate fans and supporters in Cyprus, Poland, Latvia, and Finland will have the opportunity to watch several European stars step on the court to deliver for their respective countries.
Among them, in Tampere, there will also be the home crowd favorite Lauri Markkanen, who confirmed his availability to be present at the most anticipated national team event of the whole year to the Finnish outlet mtv uutiset.
“It’s always an honor to put on the Finland jersey. I’m really looking forward to the tournament, of course, but also every single time I get to wear it, including these exhibition games,” he said via FIBA.
It won’t be the first time that the current Utah Jazz star will be playing EuroBasket in front of his fans, as he already experienced it in Helsinki at EuroBasket 2017. “The atmosphere in 2017 was pretty crazy, so we expect the same again. Hopefully, we can improve on those performances,” he commented.
“It’ll take a lot of work and surely we’ll face setbacks, but we’re aiming for the medal games, of course. It’s not enough just to play home games. We want to continue the journey to Riga,” Markkanen added.
