Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo is officially receiving Italian citizenship and will be eligible to join the national team in the 2025 EuroBasket.

The saga of American-born DiVincenzo getting an Italian passport had begun back in 2018 when the player was an NBA rookie with the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s mentioned his willingness to represent Italy multiple times and now it seems that he’ll wear the Azzurri jersey for the first time in the upcoming European championship.

A couple of months ago, DiVincenzo met with Italy head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco and reaffirmed how much he wants to play for the national team.

In 2024-25, DiVincenzo averaged 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the regular season, along with 8.7 points, 3.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in the playoffs.

Italy will participate in Group C of the EuroBasket that will be played in Limassol, Cyprus. They will face Spain, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and host Cyprus.
