The road to FIBA EuroBasket 2025 continues for the Greek national team as well, but Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t be making his debut this summer against Montenegro.

The friendly game against Nikola Vucevic and teammates, set to take place in Thessaloniki tomorrow, won’t be the occasion to see The Greek Freak finally in action representing his country.

As it was announced by the Greek Basketball Federation, the Greek superstar was included in the 14-man roster ahead of the clash with Montenegro, but he won’t play.

Montenegro won’t be the ultimate country faced by Greece before the start of FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in Limassol, Cyprus. Vassilis Spanoulis’ team will also be featured in preparation games against Latvia and Italy in the Acropolis Tournament in Athens, and ultimately against France on August 24.

Greece also announced Vassilis Toliopoulos and Vangelis Zougris to be out of contention against Montenegro as they are currently injured, alongside Omiros Netzipoglou.

Alexandros Nikolaidis and Lefteris Liotopoulos are the first players cut from the Greek roster.
