The first of two friendly games between Spain and France, scheduled in Badalona and Paris, finished with the guests escaping with the victory. Frederic Fauthoux’s team stood on top 75-67.
The French national team’s captain, Guerschon Yabusele, contributed to his team’s victory with 12 points and 5 rebounds, followed by Jaylen Hoard (13 points) and Zaccharie Risacher (12 points).
Spain had a solid contribution from FIBA EuroBasket 2022 MVP, as Willy Hernangomez had a losing effort of 15 points and 5 rebounds. His brother, Juancho, had 7 points and 6 rebounds.
This is France’s third consecutive victory on the road to FIBA EuroBasket 2025 after beating Montenegro and Great Britain, while Spain is on a 1-2 record, having lost to Portugal and won against Czechia.
Entering the competition as reigning champions, Sergio Scariolo’s team will play in Group C against Cyprus, Italy, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Georgia.
France, instead, will start the Group Phase in Katowice, going up against Poland, Israel, Iceland, Slovenia, and Belgium in Group D.
