Talented Miami Heat player Nikola Jović is once again spending his summer working with the Serbian national team.
Jović is preparing with Serbia for the upcoming EuroBasket and recently spoke about the players who inspired him and his experiences with the national team.
Reflecting on his childhood, he named Kevin Durant as one of his biggest international idols, while Miloš Teodosić stood out from the domestic scene.
“I had the chance to be part of the team during a national team window when Teodosic played. At that time, I wasn’t ready to get significant minutes, and I regret not having the opportunity to play alongside him. As for Durant, I now have the chance to face him in the NBA,” Jović said to Journal.
He also shared memories from the Olympic Games, where Serbia won bronze and famously celebrated the medal in Paris, emphasizing his connection with one of his Serbian teammates.
“The celebration was amazing, lasting from noon until midnight. We’re all close, but the younger players tend to stick together. I don’t have a particular teammate I’m most compatible with, but if someone energizes me, it’s definitely Aleksa Avramović,” he added.
The 22-year-old Jović started his career with Mega Basket and was selected as the 27th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat.
So far, he has amassed 107 regular-season appearances with the Florida team and has won Olympic bronze and a World Cup silver medal with the Serbian national team.
