The Serbian national team is considered among the top favourites to win gold at the upcoming 2025 EuroBasket, with stars like Nikola Jokić and Bogdan Bogdanović in the squad.
Big Hapoel Tel Aviv signing Vasilije Micić, a former EuroLeague MVP, is another major weapon for Serbia — but he is struggling.
“We’re not in great shape. Smailagić and Trifunović are still not ready to practice. We’re trying with Vasa to get him back, but it’s not going according to the plan we had in mind. Vasa is trying, putting in some effort, but he’s still in pain. We’ll see — in the next few days we’ll slowly have to make decisions, but for the most part the other players are fine,” Pešić said, according to KSS.
In fact, he’s not sure whether je’ll be able to count on Micić at all.
“We’ll keep practicing, keep working. Of course, these injuries are a concern. I have to be completely honest: what worries me most is whether we’ll be able to count on Micić at all. He’s trying, and we’re trying to get him back, but it’s a slow process,” Pešić added before another preparation game, this time against the Czech Republic at the Munich tournament.
Micic traveled with the squad, as he did in Cyprus, but didn’t play in the games against Greece or the hosts in Limassol.
