Luka Doncic will need to deliver if Slovenia wants to compete at a high level

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

The first FIBA EuroBasket without Goran Dragic for Slovenia looks tough on paper, especially considering the team’s absences from the competition.

Right after the huge 106-72 loss to Serbia in their last preparation game ahead of the tournament, Aleksander Sekulic announced the team’s 12-man roster.

Without Vlatko Cancar, Josh Nebo, and other key assets, the Slovenian national team’s ambition must be naturally reconsidered.

However, they still have Luka Doncic leading the squad, and that’s enough to comment on Slovenia as one of the dark horses for FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

Among other players, veterans like Gregor Hrovat and Klemen Prepelic were selected by Aleksander Sekulic on the road to the tournament.

Slovenia will play the Group Phase in Katowice, facing Poland, Israel, Belgium, Iceland, and France in Group D.
