Real Madrid guard David Kramer won’t be joining the German national team in the upcoming EuroBasket due to muscle injury.

According to the German Basketball Federation, after discussions between the German national team doctor and the medical team of Real Madrid, Kramer wasn’t given a release from the Spanish club that would allow him to play in the EuroBasket.

“This is a bitter blow for us,” said Germany coach Alex Mumbru. “David was planned to be an important part of our team. We now have to compensate for his absence as best we can. Of course, I’m also very sorry for him personally; David would have deserved to be there.”

Kramer, who signed with Real Madrid earlier in the offseason, was bound to make his EuroBasket debut with Germany. He was a member of the squad that won the World Championship in 2023.

During the EuroBasket Qualifiers, Kramer averaged 15.5 points and 4.2 rebounds.
