Limassol, Cyprus – Tornike Shengelia was present at the official pre-tournament press conference for Eurobasket 2025, and he addressed the issue of his health without giving a clear answer about his participation in the opening game of Georgia against Spain.
As he said: “Thank you for worrying about me, but don’t worry, I am ok, thanks to God, everything is well. The situation is not ideal, but again, it almost never is. I have been here before, and I had to find the way to get to the main shape possible. My health is good now, I am stable, it’s just a matter of time, we do everything possible to be ready as soon as possible”.
Speaking in Spanish, he clarified the situation about the possibility of him playing against Spain: “We will know at the end of the day what the answer to this question is. So far, everything has gone well in practice. If I don’t play, that will have to do with my game shape, not with my help. My heart is ok, the main question is if I will be in the right shape to play”.
As it was officially announced, Toko Shengelia has joined the Georgian national team in Cyprus ahead of EuroBasket, after missing recent practices due to a heart arrhythmia and undergoing tests in Barcelona.
