Andreas Obst and Dennis Schroder combined for 19 points in the third quarter, pushing Germany into a safe lead and eventually to a 106-76 victory versus Montenegro on Wednesday.

Becoming comfortable following a rocky first half, mainly behind Obst punishing the opponents from beyond the arc, Germany pulled away and reached a 30-point distance in the fourth quarter. With Alex Mumbru sidelined, interim head coach Alan Ibrahimagic clinched a 1-0 start in Group B of EuroBasket 2025.

The 29-year-old sharpshooter of FC Bayern Munich ended up with 5/6 triples and 18 points, including 12 in a 33-12 run for his side in the third quarter. Schroder put up 21 points. Standing out with 12 points in the first half, Franz Wagner combined a game-high 22 points with a team-high eight rebounds.

With 5:53 on the clock and with Germany in a commanding position, Isaac Bonga exited due to a left knee injury. The 25-year-old combo forward had seven points over 18 minutes.

To the backseat after leading for nearly three minutes, Montenegro featured Nikola Vucevic posting a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double. In his international debut, naturalized Kyle Allman Jr. followed with 18 points.

Opening the Group B schedule in Tampere, Lithuania strolled past Great Britain, 94-70. Grabbing 57 rebounds shaped a new EuroBasket record.
