Disrupting a brilliant second half for Germany, 25-year-old Isaac Bonga exited with 5:53 remaining in the fourth quarter of the meeting with Montenegro in Tampere due to a left knee injury.

“To be honest, I haven’t talked to him yet. I talked to the doctors. They are not sure yet. I hope he will be OK. We don’t know yet,” mentioned interim head coach Alan Ibrahimagic after a winning display on Wednesday.

Therefore, Bonga is considered questionable, moving forward in Group B of EuroBasket 2025. Besides the former NBA player, head coach Alex Mumbru is also questionable for the upcoming game against Sweden on Friday.

Before the latest setback, Germany built a commanding lead in the second half with Andreas Obst taking over from a familiar territory, from beyond the arc.

“We didn’t have to say a lot,” the 29-year-old sharpshooter described the locker room situation during the halftime break, “Offensively, we were fine. We missed many times to get the stops. They had some easy scores. We needed to be more physical, a little bit more energy, and more communication in defense; that was the main thing in the first half. We knew what we needed, and we went out and showed everybody.”

With his side on the wrong end of one-way traffic after the break, head coach Bosko Radovic was frustrated in the postgame press conference.

“A lot of my players just stayed in the locker room. We stopped playing basketball. We stopped playing defense, offense,” he said, “I don’t have much to say about our second half.”

“Germany was just playing its game. And we let them play their game,” added the 46-year-old Montenegrin tactician.
