Riga, Latvia – Turkey is the only team besides Germany that remains undefeated at the 2025 EuroBasket, and they are set to face Poland in the Quarterfinals.

Ahead of the clash with the Polish national team, Turkey’s head coach Ergin Ataman addressed the media in Riga.

He touched on several topics, including whether this Turkish team is the best in the nation’s history.

We don’t think about being the best or worst Turkish team, we are here to win a medal. FIBA likes to make those kinds of things, power rankings, but it’s bulls**t. The reality is on the court, and winning there. We will see in the next games which place we will take at the end of EuroBasket,” Ataman said.

He also spoke about the importance of the game against Serbia in the group stage, which propelled his side to the top seed in Group A.

Of course, it helped us because we finished the group in first position after the Serbia game. If you check, Serbia was eliminated by Finland, as Finland played a great game. So, it helped us to take the first position and advance to the Quarterfinals. For the future, every game is different — tomorrow we will face another team, another strategy. For sure, it’s a very important game for them, just like for us, but we will fight for the win,” Ataman concluded.
