Turkey superstar center Alperen Sengun became the sixth player to register a triple-double in EuroBasket history.
With 7:38 left in the quarterfinal win of Turkey over Poland, Sengun scored a tip-in basket to notch his 10th rebound in the game. The Houston Rockets‘ big man already had double figures in points and assists.
Sengun ultimately finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in 30:55 as Turkey punched a ticket to the semifinals for the first time since 2001.
Sengun became the youngest player to record a triple-double in a Eurobasket, and as his teammate Furkan Korkmaz said: “Joel Embiid was the best center I have played with until now, but we can say Alperen is now. He is a special kid, and he is giving every day his maximum”.
This is the second triple-double in the 2025 EuroBasket after Slovenia superstar Luka Doncic posted 26 points, 11 assists, and ten rebounds in a victory over Belgium.
The previous four triple-doubles ever in the European championship are the following:
| Player | Year | Points | Rebounds | Assists |
| Mateusz Ponitka (Poland) | 2022 | 26 | 16 | 10 |
| Rares Mandache (Romania) | 2017 | 14 | 11 | 10 |
| Toni Kukoc (Croatia) | 1995 | 15 | 12 | 11 |
| Stojko Vrankovic (Croatia) | 1993 | 12 | 13 | 10* |
* He recorded ten blocks
The latter is not part of official recorded history, explaining why FIBA officially notes four triple-doubles. Specifically, in EuroBasket 1993, only the points are digitized limiting Vrankovic to a peculiar spot on the all-time list.
