Riga, Latvia – For the second straight edition, Germany is back contending for a medal at FIBA EuroBasket, reaching the Semi-Finals of the tournament after beating Slovenia.
In the post-game mixed zone, Maodo Lo stopped by to comment on the team’s defensive effort trying to contain Luka Doncic, who still concluded with a 39-point losing effort.
“You can try to make it difficult for him; you can try to limit him. Isaac [Bonga] is our best defender and our most versatile defender, and he did what he could,” he commented.
“He helped to make it difficult for him, but even if you make it difficult for Luka, he’s still going to… he’s just that good, man. He’s just going to score. He’s gonna do his thing,” Maodo Lo added.
Moreover, the newest guard of Zalgiris Kaunas touched on the upcoming matchup against Finland, which shares a similar playstyle to the reigning World Champions.
“Finland plays a similar style. They kicked Serbia out of the tournament and now beat Georgia. They have a good, well-coached team, a lot of good pieces, and [Lauri] Markkanen as a leader,” he started.
“They probably also want to have some sort of revenge because we beat them on their home court, so it’s going to be super tough. We know this,” Maodo Lo continued.
“We’re going to have to be prepared and play better than we played so far because in parts of this game and also other games this EuroBasket, we all feel like we didn’t play our best basketball.”
