Riga, Latvia – The Slovenian team fell to the 2023 World Cup champions in the final quarter of the EuroBasket quarterfinals in Riga.
After the game against Germany, center Alen Omic addressed the media, focusing on how Luka Dončić was treated early in the match.
“Our best player at EuroBasket isn’t being protected the way he should be. Three fouls in the first 10–15 minutes, and by the end, he had ten. What is this? He’s the best player of the tournament; everybody comes to watch him. But we cannot play basketball like this — and that’s why we lost. They scored 90 points, and 40 came from free throws. You can do the math,” Omic said.

The numbers mentioned are not accurate, but still, Slovenia finished the game with 20 made free throws out of 25 attempts, while Germany had 30 made free throws in 37 attempts.
On top of that, Luka Doncic also commented on the refs, as his coach Aleksandar Sekulic and veteran guard Klemen Prepelic did in the post-game press conference.
