The Spaniard and the Greek guard are the only players in the upcoming Eurobasket who have been a part of FIBA tournaments every summer for the past ten years. Two absent players, Reyes and Navarro hold the all time record with 13 straight tournaments

Rudy Fernandez and Nikos Zisis are opponents and their game is quite different. However they share a record. Both players are members of the Spanish and the Greek national teams respectively for the last 10 summers. They are getting ready for their fifth Eurobasket (2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013), they have been in two world championships (2006, 2010) and also Fernandez played in three Olympics (2004, 2008, 2012) and Zisis in two Olympics (2004, 2008) and one pre-Olympic tournament (2012).

No other Greek player had such a streak since the playing days of Panagiotis Giannakis, but in Spain the all time record is shared by Felipe Reyes and Juan Carlos Navarro with 13 straight appearances in continental or intercontinental FIBA tournaments.

“I didn’t know anything about the record, the only thing that I have to say is that I feel luck to be healthy all those years and can wear the jersey of the national team”, said to Eurohoops in Koper Greek guard Nikos Zisis.
