Mateusz Ponitka scored 14 points and naturalized guard AJ Slaughter added 13 plus five assists as Poland defeated Latvia 80 – 76 in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

For Latvia, that still lacks Kristaps Porzingis, David Bertans and played without Janis Strelnieks, 22-year-old Rolands Smits notched 14 points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks while veteran guard and team captain Janis Blums added 13 points.

The Polish squad “punished” its opponents from beyond the arc shooting 10/22. In total contrast, Latvia finished with 8/33, attempting far more 3-point attempts than two-point shots (26).
