Aleksey Shved scored 20 points and led Russia to the 100-91 win over Finland in a game that was all about offense.

Playing at Helsinki, the home of Eurobasket first round games of group A, the hosts of the tournament were defeated despite a big game by Lauri Markkanen who had 27 points in total.

For Russia, not only Shved but also Andrey Vorontsevich did his job and had a loaded stat line with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. On the contrary, Petteri Koponen in his only exhibition game before the tournament had an off night with 6 points but he also dished 8 assists.
