It was a lopsided game from the start. Russia managed to beat Great Britain 82-70 and now awaits the latter results from Group D in order to find out their final seeding.
If Turkey manages to beat Latvia, Russia will win the Group. If Serbia and Latvia, win their respective match-ups then Russia will finish third in the group.
The star: Alexey Shved was back to his old ways after an “off-night” against Latvia. He led his team with 30 points finishing 6/8 from the 3-point line. Mozgov had a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards for the winning side.
Shved, broke the national team record for points scores in a Eurobasket by a Russian player and that was also his national team career-high.
The key: Russia was dominant from the start. They finished the first quarter with a 7point advantage (23-16) and extended their lead to double-digits before the half (43-31). Great Britain fought hard and managed to remain close in the game but never took over mostly because of Alexey’s Shved 3-point show.
Gabriel Olaseni had a good game of Great Britain wit 19 points and 9 rebounds and 4 assists while Clark led the team in scoring with 21.
