Doncic’s 27-point performance in a knockout game can be compared only with the 28 points scored by 19-year-old Arvydas Sabonis back in 1983 and the EuroBasket 3rd place game between USSR and the Netherlands.
In that game, USSR had destroyed their opponents (105-70) and Sabas was one year older than Luka’s current age. Doncic’s latest display is the cherry (so far) on the top of an amazing tournament in which he has comparable numbers with legend Pau Gasol.
Here’s the list with the best Eurobasket performances from players of 18 and 19 years of age, since 1981 (data are available from that year onward). As you can see, Doncic is surrounded by legends and he is the only 18-year-old in the list.
