After the final loss to Slovenia, Sasa Djordjevic gave credit to the winners but he was also convinced that his team will win a gold medal someday.

“First of all, congratulations to Slovenia. They deserve this medal. They were the team that didn’t lose a game in this tournament and played great basketball”, he said.

“We went out of our game plan that gave him a lot of transition points which was a big key in this game. They brought the NBA speed on the floor, with their guards and passing, and I’d like to congratulate Dragic on MVP well deserved”, he added.

The national team of Serbia also expressed his frustration about the officiating saying: “We deserved an equal chance to compete for gold. I didn’t see that in the last minutes but that doesn’t give less credit to the win for Slovenia. Nevertheless, we were there and there was a huge, offensive foul on Lucic and that was two free throws for us. The ball doesn’t weigh 900 grams anymore but it weights 2,5 kilos. I believe we deserve an equal chance to fight and we didn’t receive it in the last two minutes”.

“This is a competitor talking that doesn’t like to lose and then again, huge congrats to coach Kokoskov and his team”, he concluded.

Bogdan Bogdanovic represented the players and didn’t have much to say: “Great tournament for us. Congratulations to all my teammates. It’s tough to talk after a lost final but one day we will win the gold.”
