Rytas Vilnius beat Galatasaray 83 – 75 at home in the last round of the EuroCup Top 16. This result automatically eliminated Galatasaray and sent AS Monaco to the playoffs.
Despite the importance of the game for the guests, the hosts led from wire to wire, built even a 20-point advantage and the best Galatasaray managed was to make it a six-point game (73-67) with four minutes left.
The Lithuanian team was already eliminated before the match but managed to say farewell to the competition with a win and a 3-3 record, keeping the Turks at 2-4.
As coach Dainius Adomaitis said: “The season was tough but, unfortunately, everything was about the first game in the Top 16, against UNICS at home. That’s about it, but the guys did a good job, I think.”
Evaldas Kairys (13 points, seven rebounds), Terrel Holloway (13 points, six rebounds), Davis Bickauskis (13 points) and Arnas Butkevicius (12 points) stood out from the winning side.
For Galatasaray, Zach Auguste (22 points, seven rebounds), Aaron Harrison (18 points) and Yigit Arslan (14 points) scored in double figures.
