Mornar Bar shooting for EuroCup comeback and EuroLeague berth

Mornar Bar president Djorđije Pavicevic promises a challenge for a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague spot.

Mornar Bar applied for the 2020-21 edition of 7DAYS EuroCup aiming for a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague berth through its EuroCup comeback or the ABA League. President Djorđije Pavicevic shared his plans via Montenegrin outlet Vijesti.

“We will have a team that will aim for a spot in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, through the ABA League or the EuroCup,” mentioned the 57-year-old Montenegrin executive.

The 2018-19 season featured the Montenegrin team’s EuroCup debut. The 2019-20 campaign saw the Bar club move to the Basketball Champions League.

Pavicevic added that his team was included in initial EuroCup applications stemming from ABA alongside Partizan, Buducnost, and Cedevita Olimpija, while Crvena Zvezda will be part of EuroLeague unaltered 18-team field.

Mornar Bar already added Taylor Smith and Aleksandar Lazic, also extended the contracts of Isaiah Whitehead, Derek Needham, and Suad Sehovic.

“We are in talks with many players,” noted Pavicevic, “We will start preparing with the players currently in our roster, and then we will determine whether additions to some positions are necessary.”
