Unicaja Malaga officially inked Luis Casimiro to a new contract, the Spanish club announced on Thursday. Under the new agreement that confirmed previous reports, the two parties committed to the 2020-21 season including in the contract an option for the 2021-22 season, the press release notes.

Casimiro, 59, went through a short stint at Malaga in 2012 and returned a couple of seasons ago. He has also been appointed head coach at Gran Canaria, Sevilla, Fuenlabrada, Valladolid, Estudiantes, Fuenlabrada, Lucentum Alicante, Valencia, Caceres, Gijon, and Manresa, which he led to the 1998 ACB title.

His 675 games coached in Spain’s top-tier division rank him fourth overall and second among active head coaches, behind Pedro Martinez. He holds a 66-47 W-L tally at the helm of the Andalusia-based club.
