The 30 years old French guard Andrew Albicy is the new member of Gran Canaria and the projected starter in the point guard position while sharing his duties with US import Frankie Ferrari.

Albicy played with the French national team in the recent FIBA World Cup and he emerged as a player in the Spanish Liga Endesa, where he was a member of Andorra between 2016 and 2019, before leaving for Zenit St. Petersburg and making his EuroLeague debut. He has also played in France for Pari Levallois and Gravelines.

Albicy played with the French national basketball team at each level of junior basketball. He appeared for the team at the 2006 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, U18 European Championship Men 2008 Division A, FIBA Under-19 World Championship 2009, and 2010 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. He was named tournament MVP for the gold-medal winning French team at the 2010 Under-20 tournament. He was called to the senior French team for the first time at the 2010 FIBA World Championship at the age of 20.

Last year he averaged 6.2 points, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals in the VTB United League, while in the EuroLeague he had 6.6 points and 4.4 assists per game.
