Segafredo Virtus Bologna parted ways with head coach Aleksandar Djordjevic on Monday and is looking for his replacement. According to reports by La Repubblica, the Italian team is considering three elite names to take over its bench; Zeljko Obradovic, Luca Banchi and Sergio Scariolo.

With a 5-4 record in the Italian Legabasket, Virtus Bologna is not performing yet at its desired level, even though they have sealed a Top 16 spot in EuroCup with a 7-0 record, and has yet to fully use Marco Belinelli, who recently penned a deal with the club after a long run in the NBA.

The team aims to recruit an elite name for its bench and will deepen the contacts with the three aforementioned coaches in the coming days, according to the report. Obradovic left Fenerbahce this summer, after spending seven seasons with the club and lifting the 2017 EuroLeague trophy. Banchi last spent a short stint with Lokomotiv Kuban during the 2019-20 season, while Scariolo just finished a successful run in the FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers with Spain, resulting in the team’s advance to the final stage of the competition.
