Besiktas is aiming to build a strong roster for the next season and they already announced the addition of two Turkish players, Yiğit Arslan and Egehan Arna. However, there’s no announcement yet on the coach.

According to Eurohoops sources, Bursaspor’s coach Dusan Alimpijevic is close to becoming Besiktas’s new boss for the next season.

The club had previously reached an agreement in principle with ex-Zalgiris coach Jure Zdovc but the withdrawal of the Uludag Group from Bursaspor sponsorship and the uncertain future for the Bursa-based club changed the plans for the Besiktas.

The Black-and-white club from Istanbul decided to make a move for Dusan Alimpijevic, who was the 2022 EuroCup coach of the year and one of the most coveted coaches in Europe.

Besiktas’ new GM Nedim Yucel recently met with Alimpijevic in Belgrade and told the Serbian coach about their new plans. These two of them had worked together in Bursaspor for the past two seasons.

Besiktas also pre-registered for the 7DAYS EuroCup and is waiting for the official decision of the EuroLeague shareholders for possible participation.

Dusan Alimpijevic’s contract with Bursaspor continues for two more years. Contract issues have to be solved in order to make this move official. Once resolved, coach Alimpijevic is expected to sign a 1+1 year contract with Besiktas.
