In a surprising turn of events, Buducnost VOLI faced a setback in Round 6 of the BKT EuroCup, squandering a 16-point lead against Aris Midea and marking their third consecutive loss in the competition. Consequently, coach Petar Mijovic submitted his resignation.

The Board of Directors officially accepted Mijovic’s decision, prompting Buducnost to embark on the search for a new head coach.

Buducnost VOLI expresses gratitude to Petar for his dedicated work and extends best wishes for a successful continuation of his career,” stated the official announcement.

Taking the reins midway through the previous season, Mijovic led Buducnost to victory in both the Montenegrin championship and title. During the summer, he assembled a formidable team, including Legabasket MVP Colbey Ross, former NBA player McKinley Wright, French center Yoan Makoundou, and experienced US internationals such as Brandon Paul, JaCorey Williams, and Marvin Jones.

Despite a strong start to the season with seven wins in the first nine games in the ABA League and EuroCup, complications arose following a loss to JL Bourg in France. Subsequently, the Podgorica team faced defeat in the ABA derby against Crvena Zvezda and a home loss to Aris, bringing their regional competition record to 5-1 and EuroCup record to 2-4.
