Joventut Badalona had to survive on the road and did it by beating ratiopharm Ulm (88-79) in the BKT EuroCup Eightfinals single elimination game.
The Spanish club will have to face Paris Basketball again on the road in the quarterfinals knock-out game, the French side finished the regular season with the top record of the EuroCup, however, Joventut proved beyond doubt that they are a formidable opponent.
Andres Feliz with 28 points was the top scorer of the winners, while Trevion Williams with 20 points and 10 rebounds tried his best for the home side, but it was not enough.
A dominating first-half
Joventut didn’t take prisoners from the first moment, finishing the first quarter with an 11-6 partial score for a 27-19 lead.
Their run continued for a total of 19-6 which made the score 35-19 and they never looked back. They even got an 18-point advantage (49-31) and the halftime score was 50-32 with Badalona shooting 72,2% in two-pointers (13/18) and 58,3% in threes (7/12) with Feliz scoring 17 points already, while Ulm had just 11/32 FG.
The guests led even by 20 (52-32), however, Ulm trimmed the lead to 12 (65-53) at the end of the third period. The comeback effort continued, the hosts made it a five-point game (84-79) with 21 seconds left, but it was too late.
