Lietkabelis Panevėžys has signed veteran forward-center Augustine Rubit on a short-term deal as an injury replacement for Fardaws Aimaq.
The 36-year-old American returns to the EuroCup for the first time since 2017, when he starred for ratiopharm Ulm.
Rubit, a former EuroLeague standout, spent five seasons in the competition with Brose Bamberg, Olympiacos, Žalgiris, and Bayern, logging 143 appearances. His best stretch came in Munich, where he was a starter, earned the January 2023 MVP award, and averaged 10.9 points before an Achilles injury cut his season short.
Since then, Rubit has played briefly for Rostock in Germany and for Al Kuwait SC, where he posted 19.2 points and 8.8 rebounds in five games last season. He now looks to add experience and scoring punch to Lietkabelis’s frontcourt as the Lithuanian side battles early injury problems.
