Panionios Cosmorama Travel has strengthened its roster ahead of the EuroCup stretch by signing American guard Keron DeShields and Greek center Kostas Gontikas for the rest of the 2024–25 season.
DeShields (1.91 m, 32) arrives in Nea Smyrni with a rich résumé that spans Europe, South America, and the Middle East. The well-traveled guard has competed in Italy, Hungary, Israel, Greece, Lithuania, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon, while also representing Syria at the international level.
He previously played in Greece with Rethymno Cretan Kings during the 2017–18 season and recently showcased his form at the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, averaging 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 5.3 assistsper game for Syria. His upcoming appearance with Panionios will mark his EuroCup debut.
Gontikas (2.06 m, 31) is an experienced Greek big man with extensive domestic experience, having played for Panathinaikos Athens, Apollon Patras, Ifaistos Limnou, Peristeri, AEK Athens, Ionikos Nikaias, AS Karditsas, Kolossos Rhodes, and Lavrio. He also spent brief periods abroad in Romaniaand Iceland, most recently averaging 14 points and 5.6 rebounds per game with Thor Thorlakshofn.
Both players are already integrated into Ilias Zouros’s squad and are expected to be available for Panionios’s upcoming EuroCup clash with Turk Telekom in Ankara.
