A wild ending to the BKT EuroCup semifinal between Bahcesehir Koleji and Besiktas Gain saw Malachi Flynn’s hard foul trigger a chaotic scuffle

Bahcesehir Koleji’s 2025-26 BKT EuroCup campaign came to a conclusion on Friday as the Istanbul outfit exited at the semifinal stage.

This loss against Besiktas Gain ended their immediate continental aspirations and hunt for a spot in the 2026-27 edition of the EuroLeague. However, the game’s closing moments were overshadowed by a volatile physical altercation that nearly spiraled into a full-scale riot.

The tension reached a breaking point following an unsportsmanlike foul by Malachi Flynn for shoving Devon Dotson, which acted as a catalyst for a chaotic scene. In the ensuing scuffle, Caleb Homesley escalated the situation significantly, throwing Anthony Brown and inadvertently a referee into the courtside seats, leaving spectators and officials stunned by the sudden eruption of violence.

Shortly after the game, Flynn addressed the incident on his personal X account, posting a message in both English and Turkish. “I would like to apologize to my Club and to Turkey. My emotions got the best of me and acted in a way that doesn’t reflect me nor the way I want to represent my team and this country. Congratulations to Besiktas on advancing to the Finals,” he wrote.

The elimination marks a disappointing end to a standout European run for Flynn, a 27-year-old naturalized Turkish point guard and veteran of 223 NBA games. Throughout the 21-game continental campaign, he led his side with 17.7 points and 3.8 assists per contest, further cementing the reputation he built during his 50-point NBA performance with the Detroit Pistons in 2024.

Despite the EuroCup heartbreak, Bahcesehir must now shift focus to the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi. Currently sitting third in the standings with an 18-6 record, they remain just two games behind co-leaders Fenerbahce Beko and Besiktas. Flynn continues to be the engine of the domestic campaign, tallying 15.5 points and 4.4 assists per game as the club enters the final stretch of the Regular Season.
