Marking his first 100 days since confirming his decision to join PAOK, new head coach Andrea Trinchieri outlined a transformative vision for the new era of the Thessaloniki outfit, prioritizing deep structural development.
Following extensive discussions regarding the future, the Milan native embraced a shared philosophy with ownership to build a sustainable program. “Sometimes it’s easier to build something good from scratch than to fix something,” he observed during an interview shared on the official YouTube channel of PAOK on Wednesday, shifting the focus away from immediate, overnight success toward a sustainable, multi-year plan.
Central to this new era, starting from the 2026–27 campaigns of the BKT EuroCup and Greece’s Stoiximan GBL, is the establishment of a dedicated 24/7 practice facility and a heavy investment in the youth academy to nurture local talent. His strategic approach relies heavily on homegrown athletes to establish the team’s identity.

Guided by the traditional club DNA, the 57-year-old Italian tactician identified two Greek words as the polar stars for his tenure, ‘ponos’ and ‘pathos’, which roughly translate to pain and passion. To match this emotional weight, his ultimate goal is to instill a unified organizational culture where ‘no one is above the team, not even the coach’.
