According to German journalist Rupert Fabig, there is a real chance that Hamburg might take AS Monaco’s place in the BKT EuroCup.
Monaco, which has been part of the EuroLeague in recent years, is facing significant financial problems, leading to their loss of a spot in the elite league to Besiktas. However, the same could happen now with the EuroCup.
Although Jamal Mashburn has taken over the team, Monaco has not secured participation even in the LNB, but they will have the right to appeal.
Nevertheless, it seems that the financial crisis in the club is severe, and there is a chance they will not secure the funds needed for competition in the BKT EuroCup. This situation could benefit Hamburg, which has not been part of the competition for several consecutive seasons.
