With Monaco on the exit door of French professional basketball, a historic club may replace them in the EuroCup.
According to Serbian outlet “Meridian Sport” Bosna Sarajevo is a candidate for the spot, which is expected to be open sooner rather than later.
The club, which competed last year in the FIBA Europe Cup and also in the ABA League, is re-emerging in the continental basketball scene, having a legendary legacy to defend.
Under coach Bogdan Tanjevic, who took over the team in the late 60s, Bosna became a local powerhouse, spearheaded in the 70s by one of the best players in the history of European basketball, Mirza Delibasic, and winning the European Champions Cup, which is the equivalent to EuroLeague, in 1979.
Bosna is also the club connected with Svetislav Pesic, first as a player in the 70s and then as a coach in the 80s.
