Thanasis Antetokounmpo has signed a two-year contract with Aris BC, with the club holding an option for a third season, marking a major addition to the Greek side’s roster.
The 34-year-old forward returns to Greece as one of the most recognizable names in European basketball. Known for his energy, physicality and leadership, Antetokounmpo brings extensive experience from both the NBA and the international stage to Aris.
Antetokounmpo spent the majority of his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he played alongside his younger brother Giannis Antetokounmpo and was part of the franchise’s 2021 NBA championship-winning team. He has also represented the Greek national team on numerous occasions, becoming a familiar figure to basketball fans across the country since 2016.
His arrival represents a significant statement of ambition from Aris, that will play in BKT EuroCup next season, that will hope that Antetokounmpo’s experience and personality can help strengthen the team both on and off the court.
For Antetokounmpo, the move represents a return to his home country and another chapter in a career that has taken him from Greece to the NBA and back to the European basketball scene.
