With ASVEL being a candidate to play in the Eurocup, Limoges after missing the playoffs this season, issued today the following announcement.
The Euroleague has asked the club to submit a wild card application in order to participate in their competition for the 2017-18 season.
Limoges CSP will fill up this application as soon as possible to respond to this request.
As a reminder, the application does not prejudge in any way the outcome of the decision but Limoges CSP appreciates the interest which was demonstrated towards the club.
While many believed that this means a EuroLeague wildcard, Limoges may have a chance to play in next season’s Eurocup, which is also organized by EuroLeague. However the press release of the club does not clarify that.
Of course, EuroLeague would like in the future to have a French team in the top tier competition, but ASVEL seems to be the club that has pole position for that. And for the moment there’s only one scenario that could produce a wildcard for next season’s EuroLeague.
