The official announcement by ABA League is as follows:

Miroslav Nikolić has become the new head coach of Partizan NIS as he signed a 3-year contract with the club.

Nikolić was the head coach of Partizan NIS from 1996 to 1998 and he won the national title with this club in the 1996/97 season. After that he worked in Budućnost, Crvena zvezda, Radnički Belgrade, Vojvodina, Apollon, Hemofarm, Avtodor Saratov, Radnički Kragujevac, while in the previous two seasons he was the head coach of Dynamic Belgrade.

Also, it is worth mentioning that Miroslav Nikolić has been a member of Yugoslavia and Serbia coaching staff for years, working together with many famous coaching names including Željko Obradović and Aleksandar Djordjević. While working with national team he won the silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics, gold medal at 1998 FIBA World Championship, silver at the 2014 FIBA World Championship and gold at the 1997 FIBA European Championship.

“We have signed a three-year contract. I think that we will have a good cooperation and that a good atmosphere will be created around Partizan NIS. My idea is to return Partizan NIS to the way it worked during the 1996/97 and 1997/98, while I was here for the first time. I hope that we will sign long-term contracts with couple of young players and that we will once again became the most talented team in the country. Also, my desire is to create 2-3 national team players in the following season and that we continue growing as a team. That plan requires patience, both from the people inside the club and from the fans,” said Nikolić.

Partizan NIS will start their preparations for the 2017/18 ABA League season on August 7.
