The Top 10 newcomers ahead of the 2019-20 edition of the tournament presented by 7DAYS EuroCup. The list includes the most important players set to debut in the competition this upcoming season and displays the strength of the playing field.
Per EuroCup: The opportunity to make a splash in the 7DAYS EuroCup falls to every player who suits up for the 24 teams. But those who are entering the competition for the first time have a special motivation to make the most of their debuts. Here are a few of the EuroCup’s most promising newcomers to follow in the 2019-20 season.
10. Ken Horton, Germani Brescia Leonessa
Another player who has worked his way up to this level, Horton was a solid performer last season with Astana in the VTB United League, helping that team reach the playoffs with 12.8 points per game. He ranked third in the VTB with 1.6 steals on average and fourth with 7.4 rebounds. Now 29, Horton has played his way through seven countries to get this opportunity, and he has the talent and perseverance to make the most of it for himself and Brescia.
9. Youssou Ndoye, Nanterre 92
Size, experience and hunger make a potent combination, and that’s what Nanterre has found in Youssou Ndoye. After a year in the G League with San Antonio, the 2.13-meter center helped Bourg-en-Bresse get promoted to the French first division. He then ranked eighth in rebounds while helping his team stay there. And last season, Ndoye led the French League in rebounds with 8.8 per game while ranking third in performance rating (18.9) and 15th in scoring (13.9). After leading Senegal in scoring at the World Cup, this 28-year-old is ready for new challenges in the EuroCup.
8. Johnathan Williams, Maccabi Rishon LeZion
EuroCup newcomer Rishon has high hopes for another debutant in the competition, as Williams arrives in Israel with one solid pro season behind him and a lot of promise ahead. The 2.06-meter big man split last season between the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA and its G League affiliate, South Bay. His NBA numbers, 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in just 15 minutes per game, would point to a player who’s ready to rock with a full opportunity, which is what Williams can expect in Israel’s fourth-largest city.
